About us

Thirty years of experience

Treotham Automation is a leading supplier of high-quality components and products to industrial markets. As the exclusive distributor for many international product lines, Treotham's customers gain from our local presence and the extensive knowledge and experience of our staff.

Treotham is 100% Australian owned and managed. Through a network of warehouses in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth, Treotham stocks over 10,000 high quality products. We strive to be the market leader in the field. Many of the companies we represent such as igus, Lapp and PMA are world leaders in their fields.

Treotham is committed to embracing new technologies and pushing the boundaries of industry best practice. We are one of only a few companies in Australia that can offer a total solution. As a leader in automation control we have a broad capacity to provide systems and innovative solutions using a diverse range of products and components.

Our range of products includes flexible cables, chain cables, accessories, energy chains, bearings, connectors, flexible conduits, safety products, sensors, position controls, gear boxes and linear units.

Our history

In 1992, Mikael Paltoft established Treotham, selling energy chains and accessories out of his home garage.

After contacting leading suppliers in Germany (igus) and Switzerland (PMA), they agreed to appoint Mikael as the Australian distributor for their energy chains, chainflex cables, polymer bearings and flexible conduit systems. We are grateful to still have a close relationship with these companies today.

He was gradually able to expand the product range and move to a small warehouse in Sydney’s north. He then spent several months of the year on road, visiting companies throughout Australia to promote his unique product portfolio to the marketplace. At that time he didn’t have a computer or mobile phone, but just a pager and a manual card system.

He was then able to employ his first full-time staff member and open a warehouse in Perth, which was a great location to support the booming mining sector.

The growing business then led him to open a bigger warehouse in Brookvale, Melbourne and Brisbane. He then decided to go international and opened up his first warehouse overseas in New Zealand in 2010.

Our people

Our staff are the core of our success. With over 40 experienced employees throughout Australia and New Zealand, we pride ourselves on outstanding customer service and the ability to create a total solution for our customers with many years of technical experience. Many of our staff have been working with us for over 10 and even 20 years, and we are proud of their combined experience that we can offer our customers.

Our warehouse is governed by a rigorous supply chain management system. This means that our efficient and capable logistics Officers are working hard to ensure our customers receive their order quickly, keeping them informed of its delivery time along the way. Often stock items are available for next-day delivery - if not, it is reassuring to know that products are air-freighted on a weekly basis direct from our suppliers in Europe. A fully equipped workshop facility with factory trained service and technical engineers provides fast and reliable service and custom-built solutions for special applications.
