New mounting clamps for e-chains on cobots ensure safe interaction between human and machine

Collaborative robots, or cobots, are increasingly becoming the future of automation. When humans and robots are working together hand in hand, safety is extremely important. To ensure safe and reliable energy and data supply, users of cobots and industrial robots have already been using our multi-axis triflex R e-chains from igus.

To increase workplace safety, igus has now developed plastic mounting clamps to easily attach energy chains and minimise the risk of injury with their rounded edge design.

The triflex R range has been specifically developed for sophisticated 6-axis robots in industrial environments. It ensures reliable cable guidance in multi-axis movements by combining the flexibility of a hose with the stability of an e-chain.

D-Sub module: reliable shield protection
The new enhanced female D-Sub shielded module from ilme is the perfect solution for a wide range of sectors, including automation, robotics and energy, as it offers a T-connection for RS-485 BUS systems, making it also suitable for Motor-Control-Center technology (MCC). The new version of the 9-pole module (CX 01 9VTF) is equipped with a printed circuit with 2×2 screw terminals for the cable connection and grants a complete wire shielding. Together with the relevant already existing male connector (CX 01 9VM), it enriches the ILME MIXO series of modular inserts.

The first intelligent bus cables for safe automation
The igus CF.D sensor measures the transmission quality of Ethernet bus cables in the smart factory, thus reducing disruption to production operations.The globally unique concept detects the impairment of the chainflex bus cable used in advance and issues an alarm via LED, NC contact or the network. Thanks to early alerts, even in case of the slightest changes in transmission characteristics, the CF.D system detects imminent plant shutdowns in good time. In this way, the high costs for unplanned production losses can be avoided.
