High Temperature Wire Insulation Types

The type of high temperature electrical wire insulation used will determine the maximum temperature the cable will be able to tolerate. This means choosing the right wire with appropriate high temperature electrical insulation is important. In our range, there are two high temperature electrical insulation types:

  1. Silicon 

Silicon high temperature cable insulation is suitable for use in areas with high ambient temperatures up to +180°C. The products in our range with silicon high temperature electrical wire insulation possess insulating properties after combustion due to remaining SIO2 ash on the conductor.

Note: Because the mechanical properties of silicon high temperature electrical insulation decrease from +100°C in the absence of air, adequate ventilation is required when using these cables. 

  1. Glass fibre

Glass fibre high temperature wire insulation is suitable for areas with ambient temperatures from -50 °C up to +350°C. Cables with glass fibre high temperature electrical wire insulation are for use in dry conditions. The core insulation of these cables has a glass fibre covering and impregnated glass fibre braids.
